Little Addyson's Heartfelt Camp BRIDGES Story
Jun 23 2009
Little Addyson, from Thorsby, Alabama, is a four year old girl that carries a constant smile on her face. Addyson was born with serious kidney problems, causing her kidneys to shut down at only ten months old. She was lucky enough to receive a kidney transplant and has been going through treatments ever since. Other hardships soon followed for the family including the loss of their home to a fire, and Addy’s mom, Crystal Patterson, diagnosis of breast cancer. Today, the family says they are doing well and are “very blessed.”
One of the experiences that brought true happiness to the family was being able to attend Camp BRIDGES Family Camp at Children’s Harbor on Lake Martin. Camp BRIDGES helps to serve as a bridge between childhood illness and young adult happiness. Thanks to the BRIDGES Foundation, families like the Pattersons are welcomed to participate in the Family Camp at no cost to them. Addyson and her family, including her parents and grandparents, attended the Family Camp in 2008 and made truly life-long memories. Addyson really enjoyed swimming and making new friends with other campers. She also loved getting to dance at the last night party. Addyson and her family are anticipating this year’s Family Camp, which thanks to the wonderful Camp BRIDGES staff and volunteers, is sure to be a great time for everyone who attends. The Pattersons see Camp BRIDGES as a true blessing, and are thankful for the time the camp gave them to spend together having fun as a family.
